Chateau Fontareche Corbieres Rouge Vieux Vignes, 2009 13.5%

From old vines of and a blend of Mourvèdre, Syrah, Grenache Noir et Carignan.  This shows a superb vibrant nose, pure, creamy old-vine textured red fruits on the palate and a spicy, mineral, fresh and complex, long finish.

St Emilion Chateau Croix de Rambeau Lussac , 2007  14.0%

A classic, plummy, Merlot based St Emilion. From a great vintage this is ripe, rich with forward succulent fruit and excellent balance of ripe, silky tannins and mouthfilling fruit. Hints of cassis, plums, chocolate, red fruits and a touch of very well integrated oak.

Bordeaux Rouge Chateau Valrose 'Gourmandise' , 2010 13.5%

Organically farmed. Organically farmed. Lively nose is all exuberant blackcurrant berry and leaf, and other such dark fruits, minerals too. Palate is midweight, exuberant, with as much acidity and spritz as tannin. An all rounder, goes with pretty much anything, cheeky kind of claret.. Gourmandise is bottled early, with plenty of vigour of fresh wine.

Saint-Aubin Rouge, 1er Cru Cuvee Les Rouges Gorges Domaine Prudhon, 2010 13.0%

This wine is from old vines on a very fine premier cru terroir in the village of St Aubin (near Puligny-Montrachet).   This shows pure red fruits nose with earthy, cherry notes.   The palate is soft, savoury, creamy and very appealing.   Fresh, complex, with fine balance of aromatic ripe fruit and ripe tannins.

Clos Canon,Saint Emilion Grand Cru, Chateau Canon, St Emilion, 2006 13.0%

This is a superb wine, drinking well now, full flavoured, soft with deep rich plummy style fruit.

Cotes du Rhone  Parcelles 38 Vignobles Quiot, half bottle, 2010 13.0%

A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre, this is serious Cote du Rhone, being full flavoured and having the structure to support the ample fruit.

Croze Hermitages  Etienne Barret, half bottle, 2008 12.5%

100% Syrah with classic aromas of bramble and a little spice.  Oak flavours are restrained to let the fruit shine through, a characteristic of Etienne's wines.

Dolcetto d'Alba Rivella Serafino di Teobaldo, 2005 12.5%

A complex, dense, intensely fruity wine. This is earthy, savoury and very more-ish. A lovely wine with most dishes and showing lovely complexity, spicy, ripe fruit.

Has fabulous aromas of blackberry, black cherry and raspberry. Full-bodied with wonderfully integrated tannins, fresh mushrooms and milk chocolate. Chewy in the end. (Wine Spectator)

Crianza, Bodegas Campillo, Rioja Reserva, 2006 13.5%

Campillo age their Crianza in wood and bottle for far longer than is required by Spanish law.  The resultant wine is superbly smooth and creamy with ripe, black cherry fruit and amazing concentration on the palate.

Deep violet-ruby-red color. Very fruity wine with aromas of plums, blackberries, and black currant, accompanied by intense notes of caramel, chocolate, and vanilla. Soft, ripe tannins lend good structure and balance.

Pinot Noir, Valli Estate, Bald Hills Vineyard, Central Otago, New Zealand, 2001, 13.5%

A beast of a  different nature to Burgundian Pinot Noir, with a darker core of ripe fruit but still showing  fabulous aromatic quality on the nose.
